About the role:

As a general hand, your journey starts in the processing factory packing, sorting, and grading seafood destined for customers all over the world. This is an entry level role with an exciting pathway and expansive career opportunities for the right person.

What do I need to know?

Working on a fishing vessel has its challenges and requires the ability to work and live with the same people day in and day out for up to 42 days at a time.

• Trip lengths are approximately six weeks.
• You will most likely be required to complete two trips before having one trip off.
• Between all trips, there is a three day turn around at Timaru where crew may have time on land to rest.
• Vessel operations run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On board shifts are average 6 hours on 6 hours off.
• All meals are prepared and provided to you by our amazing on board chefs.
• The fleet is Timaru based so you must be able to get yourself there and back on time.
• Pre-engagement medical checks including drug testing will be carried out to ensure everyone’s safety.

• Communicate effectively to get on well with crew from a range of diverse backgrounds
• Discipline to manage yourself and your time between 6 hours on 6 hours off shifts
• Open and intuitive to learning new skills from those with more experience
• Mature, proud of your work ethic and calm under pressure
• This is a physically demanding job so you will need to be physically fit
